Liberty Training Course
The Liberty Training course is split up into four levels, and each level is formed around a two week course. The curriculum has been designed so that each level forms a foundation on which the others build upon. Once mastery of the concept is shown and a level has been completed, you will then have the option to move to the next level and build upon what you have learned. Since each level is designed to be mastered in a two week period, it usually takes multiple visits in order to complete the entire program. However, after finishing all four levels you will be an expert in the liberty method and will have all the tools to ride your own horse in perfect harmony. Of course, there is always more to learn.
Level 1: Forming the Bond
Learn the fundamentals of equine communication and how they apply to horses within the heard. Here you will experience the basics of Liberty training and set the foundation on which your entire training is built. This is the most important step of the entire process, as it is where you establish a bond based on mutual trust and respect with the horse. You will master the code of equine etiquette and the simple ceremonies that horses use when communicating with each other. By the end of this course, you will be able to move with the horse in perfect harmony.
Level 2: Clicker Training and Games
Clicker training is a very efficient tool to train horses, based on positive reinforcement and perfectly in tune with the Liberty Training principles. Learn why it works and how to correctly use it in order to create constant fun and interest for you and your horse. Learn how to play games in liberty and to use objects and toys. These games are a great way to exercise your horse and to teach them specific movements you would like to transition to your riding.
Level 3: Dressage From The Ground
This is an advanced step where you transition from forming a bond with your horse to focusing on specific, fluid movements. Many of the movements in dressage are natural to the horse, and in this course you will learn to expose and enhance these movements.
Level 4: Transition to the Saddle
Adapt the necessary techniques to make the transition from working on the ground to working in the saddle. This means establishing specific body movements so that you and your horse become one.
