The Organic Gardens Our vegetable gardens are grown using basic permaculture methods and sustainable agricultural practices that reward us with fresh, organic earth grown food. Sustainability means to be actively recycling, reusing and reducing. Discover our process at the ranch in which we utilize all organic waste material back into the soil for maximum gain.
There are numerous gardens on the property, each with its own purpose. Learn of the anti-oxidant super fruits that we have growing here such as mangosteens, pomegranates, noni, passion fruit, papaya, mangoes, coconuts and more. Even The horses at Eden Ranch are fed a special nutritious grass that we ourselves plant and grow. Coffee and cacao are also grown here and guests have the opportunity to learn how they grow, what they need to thrive and how to maintain them. Aloe and edible ginger are 2 widely used plants here and guests can help with activities in propagation and harvesting while discussing the many different health benefits these plants offer. Learn about local medicinal plants, their history and their importance for the indigenous Taino Indians and how they used them in their rituals and healings. Also, some of the foods they relied on for sustenance we have growing here such as yautia and cassava, many who may know of as tapioca. Aside from the diverse vegetable gardens and vast tropical fruit trees Eden Ranch grows, we also have many hundreds of ornamentals growing in gardens and around the property. The research opportunities are endless. From simple palm trees to amazing, rare and exotic tropical specimens, each one with its own story.
